Third full length release from these guys, following up 2007's Jokes. Like that album, Snacks is angular, mathy and melodic. I'd dare to call it "screamo", but that would conjure up some godawful
mallcore band full of "bro's" with swoosh haircuts, bad tattoos and jeans that the drummers little sister has grown out of. I'm pretty sure these guys are more into math rock type stuff from the 90's than Silverstein. Think Daniel Striped Tiger with more of a Jehu/Hot Snakes thing going on. I also read that they're from Sante Fe, New Mexico, which I've never been to, but if it's anything like Albuquerque, then I'm not surprised that these guys are so angsty. What a shithole!

I liked Jokes, but I like this album even more. The production is much cleaner and every instrument comes through the mix perfectly. The vocals also go down a bit smoother. The singer still yells and shit, but it's not as rough sounding as before. I like how he doesn't appear to whining about some chick that dumped him on every song. Or maybe he is. I have no idea. I generally don't pay too much attention to lyrics, so god knows that he's yelling about. Probably about eating doritos, donuts and other bad-ass snacks.

Sounds Like: Complicated, mathy indie/post-hardcore/punk; Dudes that have ADD.

RIYL: Daniel Striped Tiger; Bands that were on Level Plane; songs with 20 different parts.
